commissions
The places we love become part of our story.
A commission begins with a place that matters to you. It might be a family home, a favourite landscape, where you met your partner, or somewhere woven into your family's history.
Inspired by synaesthesia, Connie uses colour to tell the story of that place. Through conversations, photographs and observation, she develops a palette that captures its character, atmosphere and meaning. Drawing on the colours found in the landscape, the seasons and the fabric of the place itself, each work seeks to express not only what a place looks like, but what it feels like to know it, remember it and belong to it.
The result is not simply a painting of a place, but an interpretation of what that place means.
Where to start
Choose a place with a story to tell. It might be the town where you grew up, a family home, a favourite view, or a landscape that has become part of your life. Many commissions are also created as gifts, celebrating places that hold special meaning for someone else, whether it's where they met their partner, raised a family, or spent their childhood.
If you're considering a few different locations, include them in your enquiry. Often the stories behind the places make the choice clear, and Connie can help guide the decision.

Can Connie paint a place she hasn’t visited?
Yes. Send photos and add notes on anything specific, like a gate, a jetty or a particular tree. For places in the Huon Valley, Connie can visit in person at an additional cost, which you can discuss once you’ve sent an enquiry. Can I commission a place that’s already sold?
Yes. Connie will paint a new original. It will draw on the same colours as, but it is a different work, not a copy. If you have a particular moment or view in mind, send photos and she’ll work from those. Can I choose the colours?
Connie reads the place and chooses the colours from it. Tell her what you remember or what matters, such as a red roof or the green of a river in winter. Before she starts painting, you’ll receive a simple digital colour palette to confirm. How long does a commission take?
2 weeks to paint. Oils then need 2 to 4 weeks to dry, and framing takes a further 2 to 4 weeks. Connie will confirm a date in her quote. If you need it for a birthday, wedding or move, put the date on the form.Do I have to have it framed?
No. Every size is available unframed. Framed works are finished by Wagner in Hobart in stained timber with low-reflection glass, float mounted. What are the works painted in?
Oil and acrylic on handmade paper. What if I want changes?
Colours are confirmed from the digital palette before painting begins, so that’s the time to ask for adjustments. No changes are permitted once the digital palette is approved. Is the deposit refundable?
No. The 50% deposit is non-refundable.How do I get my painting?
Free delivery in the Huon Valley, or Connie can post it at additional cost. Are prints available?
Not at the moment. Commissions are one-off originals.Does my place have to be in the Huon Valley?
No. The first series is the Huon Valley, but commissions can be anywhere: your hometown, a coast you love, the street you live on now. Send the town, the specific spot and photos, and Connie will take it from there.
